Craft CMS development & support
Craft 6 is being rebuilt on Laravel - the framework we have specialised in for over 15 years. Craft development, ongoing support, custom module work, and upgrade planning from a Belfast team that already knows what is underneath.
Craft 6 runs on Laravel
.
Pixel & Tonic announced at Dot All 2025 that Craft 6 would move off Yii 2 and onto Laravel. The codebase has since been fully ported, the alpha is out, and the beta and general release are due through 2026. It is the largest architectural change in Craft's history.
For most Craft agencies that means learning a new framework. For us it means Craft has moved onto ours. Two Clouds has built in Laravel and PHP for over 15 years - ERP platforms, integrations, and business-critical applications - so the foundation your CMS is about to stand on is the one we already work in every day.
Laravel underneath
Craft 6's framework is our specialism. Custom modules, queue jobs, service classes, and console commands built the way Laravel expects.
Upgrade planning
Craft 5 is now LTS, so there is no emergency - but there is a plan worth making. We audit what upgrades cleanly and what needs rewriting.
Systems behind the CMS
Craft is rarely the whole system. We connect it to ERP, CRM, payment providers, and reporting platforms - our core specialism.
Eight Craft CMS capabilities.
Craft CMS Builds
New Craft sites built around your content model and editorial workflow - not forced through a theme that nearly fits.
Support & Maintenance
Ongoing retainers covering Craft and plugin updates, security patching, backups, and the development work that follows launch.
Craft 6 Upgrade Readiness
An audit of your Craft 4 or 5 site against Craft 6 - plugin compatibility, deprecations, custom module risk, and a costed upgrade path.
Custom Modules & Plugins
Bespoke Craft functionality written and maintained in-house, including porting existing Yii 2 modules onto Craft 6's Laravel foundation.
Integrations
Connecting Craft to Sage, ERP and CRM systems, payment providers, and reporting tools so content and business data stay in step.
Headless & GraphQL
Craft as a headless content API behind a Laravel application, front-end framework, or mobile app.
Hosting & Infrastructure
Managed cloud hosting tuned for Craft - staging environments, deployment pipelines, caching, backups, and monitoring.
Platform Consultancy
Independent advice on whether Craft remains the right fit, or whether a custom Laravel application is the better long-term answer.
No emergency. Worth a plan.
Craft 5 is a long-term support release, supported for five years beyond Craft 6's general availability. Nothing breaks on a deadline, and anyone telling you to rush is selling urgency.
What is worth doing now is knowing where you stand: which plugins have a Craft 6 future, how much custom module code relies on Yii 2 conventions, and what the upgrade will realistically cost. Craft is shipping a Yii 2 adapter to keep most existing code working, but "most" is doing real work in that sentence - and the answer is specific to your build.

When your CMS moves to Laravel, it helps if your developers were already
there.
We are a Belfast software company that has spent more than 15 years building in PHP and Laravel - ERP systems, trade portals, and integrations that businesses run on daily. Craft 6 moving to Laravel does not change how we work; it just means the CMS now sits on familiar ground. See our Laravel development service for the wider picture.

Frequently asked
Is Craft CMS really moving to Laravel?
Yes. Pixel & Tonic announced at Dot All 2025 that Craft 6 would move from the Yii 2 framework to Laravel, and the codebase has since been fully ported, with an alpha released and beta and general availability following through 2026. It is a strict port rather than a redesign, so Craft keeps its existing architecture on a new foundation.
Do I need to upgrade to Craft 6 straight away?
No. Craft 5 is a long-term support release, supported for five years after Craft 6 reaches general availability. There is no cliff edge. What is worth doing now is an audit, so you know which plugins have a Craft 6 future, how exposed your custom modules are, and roughly what the upgrade will cost when you choose to do it.
Will my existing Craft plugins and custom modules still work?
Craft is shipping a Yii 2 adapter package that provides a compatibility layer, and the intention is that most plugins and modules keep working without changes. In practice it depends on your build - custom modules that lean heavily on Yii 2 conventions carry more risk than a standard site. That is exactly what a readiness audit is for.
What makes Two Clouds suited to Craft work?
Craft 6 is built on Laravel, and Laravel and PHP have been our specialism for over 15 years - we build ERP platforms, trade portals, and system integrations in it. Most Craft agencies are learning Laravel now; we already work in it daily, and we can maintain the custom module code rather than only configuring plugins.
Do you support Craft sites you did not build?
Yes. We start with a platform audit covering your Craft version, plugin inventory, custom modules, hosting, and integrations, then clear outstanding updates and security work before an ongoing support retainer begins. Inherited code from a previous agency is normal and we are used to taking it on.
Can you integrate Craft CMS with our other business systems?
Yes - system integration is our core specialism. We connect Craft to ERP and CRM platforms, Sage, payment providers, and reporting tools, so content and business data stay in step instead of being maintained twice.
